This week’s Bible study will focus on verses 8 through 10 of Colossians Chapter 3. “But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator." We will also use James Chapter 3, where James, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes about taming the tongue. Words have enormous power in our lives and we are called to put on the new self, meaning that the old, trashy, anger, slander, and the like talk from our mouths, which once took place in our lives, needs much work to be perfected even after “being raised with Christ.” However, if there is consistent garbage and anger coming from the mouth, then perhaps, just perhaps, it is a sign of what is still inside, the unredeemed state of an individual. It is definitely a battle that takes place a very long time to learn and to be able to tame our tongues by the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit.

You don’t want to miss this week’s Bible study. May God bless our pursuit of becoming a “perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.”
