Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

Are you living in a fantasy? You might think that this is a very strange question to ask but let’s look at this. Our mind is a very powerful processor that enables us to run our life uniquely and differently from those around us. We all dream of something and always try to have goals set before us.

A lot of times we like to picture our lives differently from what they are now. Sometimes we like to say, “I wonder how it would be if I had this” or “If only my life style was like that”.  ....is it wrong to say things like this?

Some of us have a big imagination. Day to day we innocently daydream about living a better life style. We don’t notice how our mind wonders off creating a fantasy world where something that is not in our possession in the reality is totally under our control there.

“If only I had that other job”…”If only I was friends with that person”…”If only I had that car”

Does any of this sound familiar? You might say well it’s not our fault that God gave each of us such an ability to have an imagination. You are right, God did give us an ability to do that but did He give it to us so we could use this to create a fantasy word and sometime escape there (perhaps when some of the things in our life are not working out)? Or for what reason did He give us this ability?

People who have been living in a fantasy life for a while start to notice that nothing in the reality satisfies them anymore. They get to a state where they start to play out their fantasy life and even manipulate their friends to look like their fantasy.

Many of us reading the bible ask ourselves what does it mean to be discontent? We know that the bible tells us that we need to be content. (1st Timothy 6:6). We frequently hear preacher say that being content is very important for a Christian.

May I challenge you and say that the fantasy life that we are talking about is one of the major aspects of discontentment.

When you are living in a fantasy world or when you just visit there to escape the real world, you are not letting your mind to be satisfied with what God gives you. You are not being content with Gods plan that He has for your life. Subconsciously you are rebelling against God. You are telling yourself that you know better and that if you had the power you would have changed your life completely.

Do you know what type of fire you are playing with? The thing is many people, Christians in particular, living in our day’s end up in big sin very quickly and end up in the world. What might be the problem?

The problem is that they have been living in a fantasy life style for years. They got to a point where they found no satisfaction in their life. As soon as the world started to offer all the things they were fantasizing about they could no longer hold back and jumped to it with big desire. All this came from being discontent.

Are you living a fantasy life style where you always want what you don't or cant have?
