Verse of the week

“а кто отречется от Меня пред людьми, отрекусь от того и Я пред Отцем Моим Небесным.” Матфея 10:33

Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 (NKJV)

Do these words only concern unbelievers? Can a Christian who is of God love the world?

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. A person who has once came in-contact with true saving grace can live his life deliberately seeking other sources of pleasure that would bring him something new, something that he had never experienced before.

Re: Loving The World leads to Spiritual Disaster

What is so dangerous or disastrous about loving the world?

Some would say “well we need to love everyone right?”

That is NOT the point. Yes, the Bible states clearly, that we should love all people no matter who they are but what this verse is saying is that we should NOT love the life style that the people of this world live in.

It includes the sinful ideas that come from these people, the words that they speak, the views that they support. Therefore, we are not talking at all about people here. We are talking about their deeds and actions.

Once saved, you have a new being (your spirit) that is alive inside of you and knows the difference between evil and good. Now if you, being a Christian, gaze upon this world to take things from it and even like some of the new ways of living, it presents to you, you are bringing disaster into your life.

Spiritual disaster comes when you slowly die off. Your spirit is unable to do anything to make you stay away from sin. It has no power that enables it to guide you in the right direction towards God. You can’t even notice when a sinful life becomes normal to you. The ideas, words, deeds that were once so opposing to you now seem convenient to you.

When you move closer to sin, you move further away from God. When you don’t power your spirit through reading God’s Word and constantly staying in prayer you are automatically bringing disaster upon yourself.

What is scary is that eventually you will start to oppose pastors and church leader. Soon you will think that what is being preached in church is very close-minded and unreasonable. Eventually sin in your life will lead you to judge others and in no time, you will be away from church and won’t even care about it.

Loving the world means loving everything that contradicts God’s Holy World and going against Him. May you stay on guard and always dislike what is in this world.
