Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

The spiritual world just like our materialistic world has the concept of slavery. You might think that if you are not enslaved physically, you are not enslaved spiritually? That my friend is incorrect. You don't need to be a slave in our physical world to be a slave in the spiritual world. If there is sin in your life and if this sin is so powerful in you that you cannot free yourself from it, you are enslaved.

Many people live this life thinking that they are free. Unfortunately inside, their spirit is bonded by chains. They are pushed and beaten by sin. They are dying in the bondage of immorality, wickedness and evil. Theater, Pornography, Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Nicotine has them trapped inside with no sign of hope.

Who is at fault? Is there a way out? Where is freedom? Who can help? -Feel free to post a comment-

Re: This Thursday’s Bible study topic “Spiritual Slavery”

Hello everyone!

John 14:6 (New King James Version)

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 8:31-36 (New King James Version)

The Truth Shall Make You Free

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Jesus is the one who can set us free!

Re: “Spiritual Slavery”

Slavery ..such a brutal state to be in, especially if we are talking about being in subjection to sin.

Many of us don't see the damage that sin brings into our life until years after. What seems harmless to us now due to our low spiritual awareness, later on becomes the main issue we deal with.

Sin holds us down. When God through His word tells us to live in freedom, which is in Christ, we sometimes turn our backs to him and try to maintain the unrealistic freedom of self-governing life.

Do you know that we are the main cause why there is no blessings in our life. WE stop God from blessing us.

Romans 6:19 (NKJV)"I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness."

Apostle Paul advises Christians in Rome to take in consideration the spiritual slavery that they were once in and open up a way for God to influence their life through the walk of righteousness and holiness.

God is waiting to bless each of us but He cant fill us with His material until we are clean.

Will you drink from a cup that has been laying on the ground for many days and also hasn't been washed since the last time it was used?

God demands purity and holiness from us but we tend to pay less attention to that and on the opposite, demand things from him.

We are chained in our cells of selfish ambitions. Our eyes have already adjusted to the darkness. We say "...well God doesn't answer my prayers and doesn't want to bless me so I will just continue living my life in the same manner I have been" ..."why progress in the spiritual world? ..I don't mind where I'm at after all."

The fact is, there was not much progress from the beginning. Since the time we became believers we tend to be in the same spiritual state or have progressed only a little. Shortly after we were regenerated, the chains of sin kept on coming back to us and placing us again in the bondage of slavery.

God has so much in store for us. He is waiting to pour out His goods on us.. but these chains .. these chains of sin are holding us tight. Slavery in our life has become a reality.

We don't see the danger of spiritual slavery anymore. We don't feel how our inside is decomposing. We don't notice the change of behavior in us. We cant notice ourselves being aggressive toward those who are trying to help us. We become more suspicious of everyone.

We have learned to live with the fact that we are slaves. Movies, TV shows, secular books, secular music, beer-runs, dirty jokes are what we breathe.

Slaves ..we are nothing but slaves.

When will we get tired of this captivity? When will our hearts turn to the light that is streaming into our cell through the railed windows of secretiveness.

While there is still time on this earth, freedom can be obtained. Cry out to God and He will take action.
