Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

Living in our modern world with so much information coming in and out we need to be careful to know the distinction and the difference between just talking about someone else’s problems or gossiping about them.

2 Corinthians 12:20 (New King James Version) “For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;”

Here Apostle Paul was writing to the church in Corinth. He was planning to come to them for the third time. He was hoping that he wouldn't find contentions (conflicts), jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings (to speak unfavorably or slanderously of a person who is not present), whisperings, conceits (in other words pride), tumults (meaning disorders) among them.

We live when there is no Apostle Paul with us but there is Christ who is the head of our church and He knows everything you have ever said to anyone about someone.

Gossiping brings a lot of damage to the church- body of Christ. Does anyone know how and why? Feel free to leave a comment.

If you were to compare gossiping to something material, what would you compare it to?

Why gossiping is bad?

It ruins relationships with one another.

Galatians 5:15 (New King James Version)
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

John 15:12 (New King James Version)

12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Can you imagine how we need to love one another?
Jesus the righteous one loved us sinners. We sinners hate one another.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (New King James Version)

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Sincerly Paul.

Re: Our Next Bible Study Topic: "Don't Make Yourself Look Good at Someone Else's Expense"

Hello Victor!

Your question: If you were to compare gossiping to something material, what would you compare it to?

I would compare it to a vase. A broken vase is like broken realationship. A broken vase has big pieces, and small piece. The big pieces are small gossips, and small pieces are big gossips. But they are all from one vase. So big and small pieces ruins a vase. Sometimes we think little gossiping is okey. But we forget it leads to more gossiping. And the smaller the piece the harder it to pick them up. Same it goes for gossipig the further we go gossiping the harder it becomes to bring a realtionship back.

Sincerly Paul.

That's an interesting comparison Paul.

Is is very true that gossip can do so much damage.

I would compare gossips to holes in a ship that is on water. The more you gossip, the more of these holes are in your "ship of life". Doing this you are damaging your "ship of life" and sinking. You can only make these holes from the inside. You control the ratio of these holes being made and being fixed.

....just remember, it is hard to fix these holes when the water of all kinds of peoples responses is pouring in.

How does making yourself look good connect with gossiping?

Re: Our Next Bible Study Topic: "Don't Make Yourself Look Good at Someone Else's Expense"

Good question Elijah. One of the reasons and one of the main evils that triggers gossiping is that want of showing yourself a better person than your actually are.

Subconsciously or not by transferring the negative information to anyone about someone (weather it's true or not) you are automatically giving a hint that you are better then he or she. You are using someone else faults to bring in contrast that will make you look good in comparison to them.
