Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

God, who wants best for us did everything He could to make the connection with us a reality through the sacrifice of His son Jesus. He send Jesus Christ as an invitation letter to the fallen men.

-Why are we still living outside of Him? We call ourselves Christians, we even say we are reborn, but truth is we are far from Him. We have tossed God’s letter of invitation aside thinking that a religion is good enough to substitute that close relationship, which He wants to have with each of us.

Why is God so interested in us people? Whould He be absolutely right if He didnt sent out the invitation letter to us and send all people to hell? What do you think?  –feel free to share your thoughts by leaving a comment…

Re: This Thursdays Bible Study Topic: God is God of Invitation!

God would be absolutely just in not "sending us an invitation letter", there is nothing we have done to deserve this invitation. God is just and his name is glorified when he displays this trait. Sending all sinners to hell is absolutely just, but our God is also a loving God who is full of grace as well and wants to save all of us.

Re: This Thursdays Bible Study Topic: God is God of Invitation!

I absolutely agree with you Sergey. God did so much for us. Where would each of us be right now if it wasn't for the sacrifice of His son Jesus? Would there be anyone else to blame but yourself if someone is going to end up in hell?

Re: God is God of Invitation!

Hello you guys!
God is Just. We all deserved to go to hell no question. But God always stays just. Gods justice was poured on Jesus. If it was not for Jesus then the justice would be poured on us. Can u image what Jeus went throug? The wrath of God was on his Son.

Matthew 27:46 (New King James Version)
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Jesus took the sins of the world. God is justice, so he forsake his Son, because the wages of sin is death.

This is Jesus invitation:

Matthew 11:28-30 (New King James Version)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Jesus is calling people to come to him! Did u come to him?

Re: God is God of Invitation!

The Almighty God could have left all of us in our transgressions but he didn't. His Son came to the earth to pay the price.

What is the best form of gratitude we can offer Him? What do you guys think?

Re: God is God of Invitation!

Sergey this verse say what we can do to thank God.

Jesus said to him, “‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matthew 22:37 – 40).

Re: God is God of Invitation!

I agree with you Paul. Love in return is a big gratitude that we can give our God. That is what mainly He wants from each of us.

What are some examples of love toward your neighbor? Do you have to show love only to another Christian or you also need to love an unbeliever?

Re: God is God of Invitation!

Hello Surg!

Matthew 5:44 (New King James Version)
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

Its says love your enemies. Love is giving when someone does not deserve it.

Re: God is God of Invitation!

We need to love everyone, that is what the word of God commands us to do- Amen!

Going back to the title of this discussion, if God is God of invitation, why is He inviting and inviting men to come to Him. Couldn't He, say "lovingly" force everyone to come to Him? What do you guys think?
