Religion is mans answer to draw close to God; A relationship through Jesus Christ is Gods answer to draw close to man; Which one will you choose? -Rick Cheatham

Poem

We Need You, Lord

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert

thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.

In a world gone progressively mad,

with chaos all around us,

we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.

With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,

spreading heavy darkness,

creating feelings of emptiness,

we hunger for your goodness and light.

Turn us around, Lord, we pray;

retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.

Draw us to the satisfaction

of your purity and righteousness.

Cleanse us, and make us more like you,

role models, examples, beacons,

for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.

Come, Lord Jesus.

We need you, Lord.

Are you living in a fantasy? You might think that this is a very strange question to ask but let’s look at this. Our mind is a very powerful processor that enables us to run our life uniquely and differently from those around us. We all dream of something and always try to have goals set before us.

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” 1st Timothy 6:7-8 (NKJV)

Contentment (satisfaction in what you have) is a big deal when you are a Christian. Bible speaks very clearly on the importance of being content. Us, living in a prosperous country where we have everything, from luxurious cars to overfilling refrigerators; from nice expensive houses to fine boats, we are more in relation to this matter.

When making a comparison to the the rest of the people living in this world, we are considered to be the wealthy part of it. Being discontent, always wanting more and not being thankful to God for giving us what we have, will create problems for us now in the present and in the future.

Why is it so hard to be content? Does comparing yourself with others has anything to do with this?

As Christians, we need to live our life in purity. We need to hold ourselves away from the filth of this world. Purity is a key to many spiritual doors. Keeping ourselves in purity- will bring us closer to understanding the holiness of our God and will help us to maintain a closer relationship with Him.

Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure aroused by a wrong. It is an emotion of instant displeasure on account of something evil that presents itself to our view. Anger can lead to devastating outcomes in us and in others.

clip_image002

How should a Christian deal with his anger?

In the Bible we read- “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice”. Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV)

Why do we get angry? What are correct and incorrect ways to deal with anger?

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 (NKJV)

Do these words only concern unbelievers? Can a Christian who is of God love the world?

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. A person who has once came in-contact with true saving grace can live his life deliberately seeking other sources of pleasure that would bring him something new, something that he had never experienced before.

Can we glorify God trough playing sports? Is it wrong for a Christian to be into sports? Can playing sports bring harm to your spiritual life?

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)

How should a Christian view sports? We do understand that every aspect of a Christians life should be for God. How can we fit sports in here? Maybe sports should be my leisure time where I take a quick time-out from focusing on God and give my-self a little time to relax? Maybe sports are an exception to the verse above?

Humility is defined as-the quality or condition of being humble. Bible talks a lot about humility. It is very important for us Christians to have this quality. In Proverbs, we read that humility brings honor. Tell me who would not want to be respected or honored among people he/she is living around? So here, we have a key: humility! The absence of humility in a person brings growing of his pride and pride ends in a fall. So we can see that humility plays a big role in Christians life.

What are other reasons why humility is important for a Christian?

The spiritual world just like our materialistic world has the concept of slavery. You might think that if you are not enslaved physically, you are not enslaved spiritually? That my friend is incorrect. You don't need to be a slave in our physical world to be a slave in the spiritual world. If there is sin in your life and if this sin is so powerful in you that you cannot free yourself from it, you are enslaved.

Many people live this life thinking that they are free. Unfortunately inside, their spirit is bonded by chains. They are pushed and beaten by sin. They are dying in the bondage of immorality, wickedness and evil. Theater, Pornography, Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Nicotine has them trapped inside with no sign of hope.

Who is at fault? Is there a way out? Where is freedom? Who can help? -Feel free to post a comment-

Living in our modern world with so much information coming in and out we need to be careful to know the distinction and the difference between just talking about someone else’s problems or gossiping about them.

2 Corinthians 12:20 (New King James Version) “For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;”

Here Apostle Paul was writing to the church in Corinth. He was planning to come to them for the third time. He was hoping that he wouldn't find contentions (conflicts), jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings (to speak unfavorably or slanderously of a person who is not present), whisperings, conceits (in other words pride), tumults (meaning disorders) among them.

We live when there is no Apostle Paul with us but there is Christ who is the head of our church and He knows everything you have ever said to anyone about someone.

Gossiping brings a lot of damage to the church- body of Christ. Does anyone know how and why? Feel free to leave a comment.

The newspaper article in the Florida newspaper told it in grim detail. The Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reported the death of a 12 year old boy who hung himself. Why? The merciless taunting of his classmates because of his weight. The boy was 5 foot 4 inches tall and weighed 174 pounds. Seems the classmates couldn't get enough of teasing him.

So one evening at midnight, he crawled out of the window of his home and went to the backyard tree, got a stool, slung a rope over a branch and hung himself. His 8 and 10 year old brothers found him as they were getting ready for school. His mother collapsed as the paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene. The father immediately took an axe and cut down the tree.

You might say the boy was literally teased to death. Isn't that absolutely tragic?
We learn a lot about science and math - but we don't really learn in school about compassion.

But let me ask you...surely there was at least one student in his school who was a Christian, who could have befriended him, and made him feel welcome. WHERE WERE THE CHRISTIANS?
